Pay online, make an appointment – avoid queues

16 January 2026

The City encourages customers and motorists to book ahead of visiting a customer office to pay their accounts and renew their licence discs. Many customer offices are experiencing high volumes as motorists and customers finalise some account and motor vehicle matters in the new year. Customers are also urged to make use of convenient online payment and motor licence renewal options. Online bookings at certain offices: https://bookings.capetown.gov.za/.

‘Amid the visible influx of customers visiting our customer offices as the new year is in full swing, we encourage customers to make use of our online booking service for account and vehicle licensing matters and also to make use of the variety of online services we offer. Please visit our website for more details.

‘It is quick and simple to renew a vehicle licence disc using the City’s online options. The SMS you receive about the renewal contains a link to the online booking system. Motorists can book an appointment and receive a reference number within minutes on the City’s website. The reference number ensures motorists are assisted at a dedicated counter, cutting down on time spent queuing.

‘To speed up processes even more, the City recently introduced a drive-through renewal facility in Brackenfell. This unique option allows motorists to stay in the driver’s seat as they renew their licence. Over the next few months, we will explore additional drive-through facilities and other innovations to make the City the leading licensing and renewal agent.

‘Accounts can also be paid online via eServices. Account payments are important to keep service delivery going and we thank each customer and ratepayer for their payments, especially amid the competing demands of January,’ said the Mayoral Committee Member for Finance, Councillor Siseko Mbandezi.
